Child safety policy
Our Commitment to Child Safety
At Fishily, our highest priority is to maintain a safe and secure environment for all users. We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for any activity on our platform that involves Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). This includes the creation, distribution, possession, or promotion of such content.
This policy outlines our unwavering commitment and the robust measures we take to protect children and our community from this abhorrent material.
What is Prohibited?
Under New Zealand law (the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993), it is illegal to possess, make, or distribute objectionable material, which includes CSAM.
Fishily strictly prohibits all forms of CSAM and any content or behaviour that sexually exploits or endangers children. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Images, videos, or text depicting the sexual abuse of a person under the age of 18.
- Content that promotes or encourages the sexual exploitation of children.
- Any communication that facilitates or coordinates these activities.
How We Keep Our Community Safe
We employ a multi-layered approach to detect, remove, and report CSAM.
1. Content Moderation
Our dedicated moderation team actively reviews all publicly shared content on Fishily, including feed posts, trips, crews, comments, and profile information. Any content that violates this policy is removed immediately.
2. User Reporting
We empower our community to help us maintain a safe platform. Users can easily report any content or user profile they find concerning directly within the app. Our reporting tools are available on:
- User Profiles
- Feed Posts & Comments
- Trips & Crews
All user reports are treated with the highest priority and confidentiality and are reviewed promptly by our moderation team.
3. Cooperation with Authorities
Fishily is committed to fully cooperating with New Zealand law enforcement. When we become aware of any potential CSAM on our platform, we will:
- Immediately remove the offending content.
- Preserve evidence related to the content and the associated account.
- Report the incident and all relevant information to the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) and the New Zealand Police.
Consequences of Violating This Policy
Any user found to be sharing, creating, or engaging with CSAM will face immediate and permanent consequences, including:
- Permanent suspension of their Fishily account.
- A lifetime ban from using any of our services.
- Reporting of the user and their activity to the appropriate New Zealand legal authorities.
What to Do if You Encounter CSAM
If you come across any content on Fishily or elsewhere that you suspect may be CSAM, it is vital that you do not share it with anyone.
- Report it immediately using the in-app reporting tools or by contacting us directly at [email protected].
- Report it to the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) through their official reporting channels.
Your immediate action can help protect a child from harm.
Thank you for helping us keep the Fishily community safe for everyone.
