Community guidelines

Welcome to the Fishily community! We’re stoked to have you. Our goal is to create a friendly and trusted space where anglers can connect and get out on the water more often. To make sure everyone has a great experience, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind.

Be a Good Catch: Building Trust

Your profile is your handshake in the Fishily community. A great bio and a few photos of your boat or your latest catches go a long way in helping others get to know you. The more complete your profile, the easier it is for others to trust you and want to connect for a trip.

Our Core Guidelines

  1. Respect Your Fellow Anglers. We’re all here for the love of fishing. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated. Treat others as you’d want to be treated on the water.

  2. Keep it Fishy. This is a community for anglers. Please keep your posts and comments relevant to fishing, boating, and the outdoors. Spamming or advertising other products or services is not allowed.

  3. Be Clear and Courteous When Planning Trips. Good communication is key to a great trip. When you’re hosting or joining, be clear about expectations, costs, and plans. Respect each other’s time and commitment.

  4. Fish Responsibly and Legally. It is your responsibility to know and follow all local fishing and boating laws and regulations. Practice sustainable fishing to ensure our fisheries are healthy for generations to come.

  5. Look After Each Other and Your Gear. Safety is paramount. Always be aware of your surroundings and take appropriate safety measures on every trip. Please treat other users’ boats and equipment with care and respect.

  6. Protect Your Privacy. Be mindful of the information you share. We recommend keeping personal contact details private and communicating through the app until you’re comfortable.

Reporting

If you see any content or behaviour that you believe violates these guidelines, please report it to our moderation team using the in-app reporting tools or by contacting us at [email protected].

Thanks for helping us build the best fishing community in New Zealand. Tight lines!
